Contractors are underway working to remodel a Kenilworth shopfront, after plans were given the green light last year.

In October planning permission was granted to give Unique Senior Care's new unit at The Square a makeover, weeks after the business opened for the first time.

The former Christian charity shop's wooden frames are to be replaced with a "more modern and energy efficient double glazed aluminium" design.

The scheme will also see the door of the former charity shop moved to make an "easier and level access from the pavement".

Kenilworth Town Council's planning committee - while not objecting - said the changes should be in keeping with the rest of the street.

The shop had previously been run by Christian Charity Global Care, until the store closed in 2021.

Approving the application, a WDC report said: "Relatively modest changes are proposed which are considered to improve the appearance of the shop front.

"The proposal appears more modern and with the elevation appears more balanced.

"No objections have been submitted expressing concerns over the design of the new shop front.

"The design is considered appropriate for the varied character of the immediate surrounding area and will harmonise with the other shop fronts."

According to the company website, Unique Senior Care was launched 10 years ago and provides home care services in Cheltenham, Coventry, Gloucester, Solihull, South Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.

A timeframe for the works has not been announced by the company.

Kenilworth Nub News has approached Unique Senior Care for comment.
