Care company reveals plans to remodel Kenilworth shopfront
A former Christian charity shop in Kenilworth could be given a new look, as plans to remodel the front of the building have been put forward.
Home care company Unique Senior Care - which already has offices in Coventry, Stratford-upon-Avon, Alcester and Knowle - has applied for planning permission to give the shopfront at The Square a new look.
A planning application submitted to Warwick District Council is asking for permission to replace the current wooden frames with a "more modern and energy efficient double glazed aluminium" design.
If approved, the scheme will also see the door of the former charity shop moved to make an "easier and level access from the pavement".
The application explained: "The change will also create a flat front to the building which will be more appealing to the street view and remove the current central ramp which creates issues with access.
"It will remove the 'street lobby' area and internalise that space.
"Our business is domiciliary care and clients with limited mobility sometimes visit us with regard to enquiries and also to meet the management.
"We do not want the access to the building to pose any hindrance to clients of their family members."
According to the company website, Honest Senior Care was launched 10 years ago and provides home care services in Cheltenham, Coventry, Gloucester, Solihull, South Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.
Kenilworth Town Council's planning committee recently discussed the application, and while not objecting, said the changes should be in keeping with the rest of the street.
The shop had previously been run by Christian Charity Global Care, until the store closed in 2021. It has been vacant since.
