A large section of the car park at Kenilworth's Sainsbury's has been fenced off as work on the Warwick Road supermarket gets underway.

The retailer said the current works - to the delivery and outdoor space to the side of the store - are for the upgrading of refrigeration units.

Sainsbury's said works on site will last a matter of months.

A company spokesperson told Nub News: "Over the next few months we will be refurbishing our Kenilworth store.

"We're currently upgrading the refrigeration units to be even more energy efficient.

"We thank our customers for their patience while these works are carried out."

Sainsbury's was recently given planning permission for a series of works on site by Warwick District Council.

Despite three objections, planning permission was granted for "the removal and replacement of existing condenser units on the main roof of the supermarket" and the "installation of two gas coolers in the rear service yard service area".
