Works to build a new roundabout on a busy Kenilworth road are expected to start this April.

The four-arm roundabout will be built on Glasshouse Lane as part of the new Stoneleigh View housing estate, which is already under construction.

The new junction, which will also include the entrance to Stansfield Grove, will be built by contractors appointed by Warwickshire County Council (WCC).

A notice on the WCC website says the works will start on April 1 and could last until August 30.

Multi-way traffic lights will be in place along Glasshouse Lane during the works.

Updating residents at this week's Kenilworth Community Forum, Warwick District Council site delivery Becky Burridge said: "We are expecting work for that roundabout off Glasshouse Lane to commence later in the spring.

"The county council are currently going through a framework exercise to appoint a contractor to do that."

The roundabout was due to be built before the new homeowners moved in last year, but the district council granted permission for the works to be pushed back.

The delay was blamed on road safety works around the new Kenilworth School taking longer than expected.

Now, the first 100 homeowners will now access their houses through the current temporary access road built for the show homes.

And all construction traffic is now set to be sent down Crewe Lane to access the development there.

The roundabout will then be built in time for the 100th house being occupied.

In 2021 the district council announced it would be investing £60 million to help build the 620 homes in a joint project with Countryside Partnerships - which is part of Vistry Group.

The Stoneleigh View development will see 310 houses built for rent or shared ownership through the council's HomeChoice Scheme, or for private rental through Milverton Homes - the council's housing company.

The remaining 310 properties will be sold privately under the Linden Homes and Bovis Homes brands.

So far 33 houses have been finished, with the district council recently taking ownership of its homes at the site.
