A partial solar eclipse will be visible from Kenilworth and other parts of England this morning.

Nearly a third of the sun will be blocked by the Moon in the largest partial solar eclipse since 2015.

Though sky-gazers here will see a crescent sun during this annular eclipse, observers in Russia, Greenland and northern Canada will see the full 'ring of fire' phenomenon.

An annular eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line with the Earth, but the apparent size of the Moon is smaller than that of the sun.

This causes the Sun to appear as a very bright ring, or annulus, hence the 'ring of fire' description.

The partial solar eclipse will be visible from 10.07am and last until 12.24pm from Kenilworth. It is supposed to look most impressive at 11.12am. Viewers will see the Moon move along the edge of the Sun, making it appear as if a chunk has been taken out of it.

Nasa advises that looking directly at the Sun is never safe, even if it is partly obscured during an eclipse. It recommends wearing solar viewing or eclipse glasses throughout the entire eclipse if you want to face the Sun.
