Weekly round up: all the headlines and sports stories from this week in Kenilworth

Here are the headlines, and sports stories from this week in Kenilworth.

There was a great deal of reaction from residents as it was announced that 99 houses are to be built on land that was earmarked for a new school. More news from Warwick District Council came as Cllr Terry Morris raised concerns over building works on Upper Spring Lane.

However, more positive news from the council came as a virtual Christmas light switch on event was announced, which will take place at the end of November.

HS2 protestors hosted a rally in Cubbington this week, as the government responded to the petition to save the famous pear tree there.

Residents were urged to ensure that their smoke detectors are in order as a fire left an elderly gentleman "lucky" to be alive on Monday.

More community action also came from the Kenilworth Lido Campaign group as they announced a crowd funding campaign to raise money for an independent report to be commissioned on the future of the lido at Abbey Fields.

Christ the King 3 - 2 Kenilworth Wardens FC. The Wardens First Team secured their second win of the season, and now sit just two points off top spot.

Kenilworth Wardens FC Reserves vs Witnash Town.

Kenilworth Sporting FC 4 - 3 Coventrians. Sporting held on to their top spot with their sixth win of the season.

Kenilworth Sporting FC announced the new signing of Midfielder Sean Burke from GNP Sports on Tuesday. This was their first of two new signings this week as Sam Watts also joined today.

Kenilworth Rugby Club announced their October sports camp for children, and hosted their first rugby tournament of the season.

Kenilworth Runners donated £1500 to the Myton Hospice for their Virtual Grand Prix series.
