Warwickshire Pride has been given nearly £177,000 by the National Lottery to keep a countywide support service for young people running.

The grant, from the National Lottery Community Fund, will mean the charity's Proud Youth service will continue to help local people for at least another five years.

The service sees groups run for LGBT+ young people across Warwickshire to provide a "space where you can be yourself and meet other LGBT+ people".

Warwickshire Pride, which recently announced more pride events across the county, said: "We are pleased to announce that the National Lottery Community Fund has awarded Warwickshire Pride a grant of £176,825 to keep our Proud Youth service for LGBT+ young people running for another five years.

"We are incredibly grateful for the funding, which means LGBT+ young people will continue to get the support and social spaces they need across Warwickshire."

MP for Warwick and Leamington Matt Western said it was "brilliant news".

"Really pleased for the team at Warwickshire Pride who do so much to support LGBT+ young people across our towns and the wider county," he added.

Since 2004 the National Lottery Community Fund has awarded over £9 billion to more than 130,000 projects in the UK.
