A busy road into Kenilworth will be closed for over two months this autumn, to allow for HS2 works.

The high speed rail developer will close Dalehouse Lane in two phases during September and November as works to build a new bridge get underway.

The first phase of the works will begin on Monday (September 11) and will see the road completely closed until October 6.

This will then be repeated from November 6 until December 1.

"We will be carrying out temporary utility diversion and connection works to facilitate the construction of the new overbridge," an HS2 statement said.

"To ensure public safety and for the works to be carried out safely, a full road closure will be in place for 24 hours for the duration of the works.

"Our works will run from 11 September to 1 December 2023. and will be carried out in two phases."

Working hours will be 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Kenilworth Town Council had already warned of significant closures for the road.

The speed limit along Dalehouse Lane has also been reduced from 50mph to 30mph until early 2024.

Last year an HS2 spokesperson told Nub News the developer would do what it could to minimise disruption.

"We are currently finalising the design and construction method for HS2 in this area, which includes incorporating cycling provision on the realigned road," they said.

"We have let the community know that a road closure is likely, but we haven't put a timescale on this until we finalise plans.

"We aim to keep disruption to a minimum and will provide further information once the plans have been confirmed."
