A small number of trees will be cut down in Abbey Fields to make space for a new footpath behind the swimming pool.
The new pathway near the duck feeding area will be needed once demolition work begins on the leisure centre, blocking the current bridge over Finham Brook.
Works will also see the area "revamped" and the path will become a permanent addition even after the new swimming pool is built.
Providing an update at the most recent Kenilworth Town Council meeting, Cllr Kate Dickson praised the news saying it was something the council had "really battled hard" to make happen.
Reading a letter from Warwick District Council, she said: "As part of the ongoing preparation work at Abbey Fields we will be undertaking some work in the spinney area of Abbey Fields.
"This work will be completed under the guidance of our green space team using one of their contractors.
"The work will see the area revamped and the area opened up to provide views of the lake. "Vegetation will be stripped back and some trees will be removed in readiness for a path to be introduced."
Cllr Dickson added: "This path will allow access from one side of Kenilworth to another through Abbey Fields throughout the development and will provide a permanent path post development."
Work on site has already begun and WDC said it will happen in stages until the end of August.
While the redevelopment has begun at the town's other sports centre at Castle Farm, residents are still waiting on the district council to make an announcement on Abbey Fields.
A district council spokesperson told Nub News: "The path being prepared around the rear of the swimming pool building is in preparation for the imminent demolition of the existing swimming pool building and the construction of a new swimming pool building on the site.
"The hoarding that is to be constructed around the site to keep the public safe will block the existing path around the back of the building.
"The hoarding will also block the bridge over the Finham Brook nearest to the current entrance to the building.
"This path is therefore being installed to ensure that pedestrians can continue to cross the Finham Brook in the area of the swimming pool building by using the bridge near to the duck-feeding platform and then passing behind the site."
