A cockapoo puppy that was stolen from a car whilst her owners were shopping has been found near Bubbenhall and returned home.

'Blossom' was stolen from a van parked outside the Spar on Lutterworth Road, Nuneaton on Saturday (May 1) whilst her owners were inside the shop.

Officers from Rugby Safer Neighbourhood Team responded to a report of a dog in the road yesterday (May 5) and found Blossom near Ryton Pools. She was taken to the vet where she was identified by her microchip.

She was then reunited with her owners.

Officers are keen to talk with the driver of a light coloured BMW car that was seen outside the shop at the time of the incident.

Inspector Sally Bunyard-Spiers, Rugby SNT said: "We are happy that Blossom has been found safe and well and is reunited with her owners.

"Dog theft is a callous and emotive crime. Blossom was not just a pet to her owners, she was considered part of their family.

"Leads are being actively pursued in and around the area where Blossom was located and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

"We are particularly interested in locating the driver of the BMW that was parked in the disabled space outside the Spar in Nuneaton at approximately 5.15pm on Saturday"

Anyone with information, web cam or other CCTV footage is asked to report this to us via our website or by calling 101 quoting incident number 274 of 1 May.

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
