Kenilworth locals continue to be kept waiting on a new date for when a roundabout on a busy town road will be built.

Delays to the construction of the new junction on Glasshouse Lane have previously been blamed on 'legal issues' and Warwickshire County Council (WCC) is still yet to announce when works will start.

A new roundabout will be built at the entrance of the new Stoneleigh View housing estate.

The new junction, which will also include the entrance to Stansfield Grove, was expected to be built in 2024, but has repeatedly been put back.

Nub News reported in December that the designs were not completely finished due to the "legal issues".

WCC previously confirmed to Nub News that the four-arm roundabout on Glasshouse Lane will take at least four months to build.

A report to a previous town council meeting had set the new deadline as May 2025, but with this date now passed, no new timeline has been confirmed.

And an update presented this week said: "No start date for the roundabout works has yet to been provided despite this having been promised to be commenced in 2024 by WCC.

"An urgent update has been sought."

A planning application approved by Warwick District Council then gave permission for up to 100 homeowners to move in before the temporary arrangements had to be replaced with the new junction.

In 2021 the district council announced it would be investing £60 million to help build the 620 homes in a joint project with Countryside Partnerships - which is part of Vistry Group.

The Stoneleigh View development will see 310 houses built for rent or shared ownership through the council's HomeChoice Scheme, or for private rental through Milverton Homes - the council's housing company.

The remaining 310 properties will be sold privately under the Linden Homes and Bovis Homes brands.

So far 33 houses have been finished, with the district council recently taking ownership of its homes at the site.

Warwickshire County Council has been approached for comment.
