Two authors will give locals a rare insight into the world of writing and publishing at a special event in Kenilworth this September.

Organised by Kenilworth Books in collaboration with Kenilworth Arts Festival, the event on Sunday 15 September will feature Leo Vardiashvili in conversation with Elizabeth O'Connor.

Both debut authors, the two will offer a very different take on the industry.

"Two very different but equally brilliant debut novels will be discussed," organisers said.

"Join us to hear two quite different perspectives on their inspiration, the writing process and getting published.

"Find out what they're working on now and what it's like the second time around."

Leo has recently released 'Hard By A Great Forest', which tells the story of a family coming together and putting the past to rest after returning to Georgia following the end of the USSR.

An Observer Best New Novelist for 2024, he has received wide acclaim for his first publication.

Meanwhile Elizabeth has been named an Observer Best Debut Of the Year 2024 for her book Whale Fall.

Set in 1938, it tells the story of Manod, a young woman living off the coast of Wales.

When two anthropologists from the mainland arrive, Manod sees in them a rare moment of opportunity to leave the island and discover the life she has been searching for.

But, as she guides them across the island's cliffs, she becomes entangled in their relationship, and her imagined future begins to seem desperately out of reach.

Tickets for the event - which runs from 1pm to 3pm - cost just £5.

Tickets can be bought online here or in person at Kenilworth Books in Talisman Square.
