1. Community Picnic

Kenilworth locals are invited to Kenilworth Castle this July to celebrate the 450th anniversary of Elizabeth I's visit to Kenilworth.

During the summer of 1575, in her longest ever visit to a courtier's residence, Elizabeth I spent nearly three weeks as a guest of the Earl of Leicester, Robert Dudley.

Dudley laid on lavish festivities throughout Elizabeth's stay in a final attempt to woo her, ten years after his original marriage proposal, on Christmas Day in 1565.

A series of events have been announced to celebrate the major anniversary this summer, with Kenilworth Town Council set to host a community picnic at the castle on Saturday 12 July.

Elizabethan fancy dress is encouraged for the event, which is free to castle pass holders.

Roll up, Roll up! It's time for St. Nicholas Church's Retro summer fair.

Human Hoopla, Tiny Teddy, Tombola, Soak a Scout leader, Hook a duck, Hobby Horse Arena and plenty of other retro games will all be available!

3. Pizza Night

Head to East Chase Distillers this Friday (July 11) for the latest food takeover night!

Organisers said: "Join us for an evening of Gin, Vodka & Pizza right here at our distillery.

"The Gin (obviously) will be supplied by us, with the Pizza supplied by The Street Food Company, with tasty pizza fresh to order."
