Kenilworth Tennis, Squash and Croquet Club (KTSCC) is celebrating the next step in "significant improvements" to its facilities.

The Crackley lane club has been granted planning permission for an enlarged outdoor seating deck and provision for two additional padel courts.

The club says the developments are part of its commitment to "providing high-quality facilities" for members and the wider community, while "keeping pace with growing demand for racquet sports".

Warwick District Council's planning committee gave the green light to the application this week.

Following the announcement, a KTSCC spokesperson said: "This is very positive news and allows us to make a final decision in relation to this development, looking to improve our tennis and padel facilities to support increasing demand from both members and community, whilst also enhancing our club's exterior."

The extension to the outdoor seating deck will create more capacity for members and visitors, "significantly improved" accessibility, and offer better views of the tennis and padel courts.

The club said the enlarged area will also serve as a welcoming social hub, particularly during tournaments and community events.

Padel, one of the UK's fastest-growing sports, is also at the heart of the application, for two further courts.

Club leaders said this reflects the rising popularity of the sport locally and will help relieve pressure on existing facilities.

Recommending planning permission be granted, a council report said: "It is considered that the development would constitute appropriate development in the green belt.

"The proposal is also considered to create no additional harm to the amenity of neighbouring uses.

"The proposal is considered to be in accordance with the [planning] policies and is therefore recommended for approval."
