Town councillors have thrown their support behind plans to fix the 'insufficient' power at Kenilworth's Abbey Fields museum.
A planning application to install a "more reliable power supply" to the grade I listed barn were submitted by Kier Construction Ltd.
The barn houses the museum of the Augustinian abbey's history and members at Kenilworth Town Council said it would benefit from the works.
"Members would like to support this application," a note from the council said.
"Members were of the view that this would enhance the facilities in Abbey Fields, particularly in view of the recently launched Kenilworth Revealed Project."
The application - which WDC has actually instructed Kier to submit - could see the power taken from the new leisure centre to the museum.
"The existing underground electrical cable supplying power to the barn runs through the abbey complex, but has provided only intermittent energy (such as lighting but not heating)," the application said.
"The replacement cable has been designed to re-use the existing trench as far as possible, with a change to how it enters the building."
Other options were considered for the works but not deemed feasible.
"This approach minimises harm to the listed building, removes the unsightly and hazardous existing external cable, and enhances the aesthetic appreciation of the structure," the application continued.
