Warwick Road has reopened after a fire at a Kenilworth chip shop.
Emergency services were called to Friends Kenilworth at 11.50am this morning to deal with a blaze that started in the kitchen area of the shop.
Warwick Road had been closed - with traffic diverted along Waverley Road - while four fire engines and crews dealt with the incident.
Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was not being treated as suspicious and nobody has been injured.
A Kenilworth and Warwick Rural Police spokesperson said: "Warwick Road in Kenilworth Town Centre has reopened following attendance from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and Warwickshire Police in relation to a fire at a business premises on the junction of Warwick Road and Queen's Road.
"Thankfully no one was injured as a result of the fire.
"Please do not go up to the building for a closer look."
The fire has destroyed much of the inside of the business, with some of the downstairs windows now smashed.
Group manager Tom Crookson told Nub News at the scene that it was too early to say what had caused the fire.
The chip shop has been damped down but crews will return to the scene tonight to monitor the situation.
A Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "We were alerted at 11:49 am on Friday 21 April 2023 to reports of a house fire on the Warwick Road in Kenilworth.
"We had four appliances in attendance who, upon arrival, found a two-storey building approximately fiver-metre x 10-metre used as a fish shop and chip shop with a fire located in ground floor cooking and serving area.
"Crew quickly extinguished the fire and remain on the scene dampening down.
"Warwickshire Police attended the scene to assist with traffic management and neighbouring residents were evacuated from properties as a safety precaution."
