The "ridiculous" closure of two Kenilworth roads for HS2 works is due to start next week.

Both Crackley Lane and Kenilworth Road will shut on Tuesday 2 June, despite continued calls from Kenilworth Town Council not to shut multiple roads at the same time.

The former will shut from June 2 until June 21 for "utility and drainage installation works".

Kenilworth Road will be closed from Monday 2 June to Saturday 28 June, and then from Monday 30 June 2025 to Sunday 20 July 2025.

HS2 will be using the closure to finish embankments, reinstate and resurface the footpaths, position final utilities and complete highway drainage works.

Residents have blasted the "ridiculous decision" by HS2 to the neighbouring roads.

"HS2 is the gift that keeps on giving... (well more taking than giving)," one local said.

Another added: "At this point [I] think they expect people to use flying cars just to get to work, it's getting a joke."

HS2 has been approached for comment.
