More restaurants, fixing the potholes and restoring the 30mph speed limit along Warwick Road were top on the wishlist of many Nub News readers when asked what changes they would like to see to the town centre in 2024.

Nub News asked readers on social media what they would like to see in the high street over the coming months, with hundreds of you getting in touch with your opinions.

Beyond the predictable sarcastic remarks about fewer coffee shops and Indian restaurants - and bickering about the semantics of 'High Street' and 'the high street' - suggestions were very wide ranging.

Lots of locals called for new eateries, with Greek, Iranian and Chinese cuisines all requested.

While praise was forthcoming for the town's existing independent businesses, many

responses called for more clothes shops, a hardware store and even a board game cafe.

There were also calls for more fast food options including KFC and McDonald's.

"I'd just like to see the empty units filled," one reader wrote.

Other locals suggested more fundamental improvements to the town centre, including filling in the potholes, fixing the pavements and changing the speed limit again.

"Instead of a hideous, under-maintained car park in the heart of talisman square, - a green sensory space with seating and children's play area with disability access," another reader commented.

"It would give a different ambience and environment to the heart of the town centre and provide more of a community shared space that we can all enjoy."

Multiple readers also called for Station Road to be reopened - a year after the street was officially closed for good.

But there were also ranging positive comments about the town centre, simply saying nothing needs to change.

"My word would be leave it alone," one reader wrote.

"I love Kenilworth the way it is."
