Police have seized nearly 150 cannabis plants after a drugs bust in Kenilworth.

Officers, acting on a tip off, raided the residential property yesterday (May 5) where they seized the plants and growing equipment.

The force said no arrests were made at the scene but added that enquiries were ongoing.

A Kenilworth and Warwick Rural Police spokesperson said: "Having received information about a possible cannabis grow in Kenilworth, officers attended a residential property. Entry was gained into the property.

"Approximately 150 cannabis plants were found along with hydroponic equipment. No offender(s) were located whilst officers were present.

"Offender(s) had conducted dangerous alterations to the electrics inside the property, which posed a fire hazard. All plants and equipment were seized and have been sent for destruction.

"Enquiries are ongoing.

"Aside from the illegalities of cannabis, offender(s) posed a serious risk to persons in the community should their electrical 'alterations' have caused a fire.

"The property has since been made safe."
