Businesses are still wanted to take over units at a major new industrial park near Kenilworth.

Construction of SEGRO Park Coventry Gateway began in January 2020, with up to 3.7million sq ft of infrastructure to be built at the 215 acre development.

Whilst last month it was announced that DHL would invest £240million in a distribution hub on site, owner SEGRO is still look for more companies to come on board and take over the rest of the plots.

A planning application to build two major warehouses on the former Baginton sewage farm site has also been submitted.

When the DHL deal was announced at the start of July Andrew Pilsworth, managing director, national logistics at SEGRO, said: "DHL Parcel's decision to choose SEGRO Park Coventry for a new parcel hub is an important milestone in what will be a bright future for this development, and highlights the ongoing demand for modern, high quality, sustainable industrial space.

"The new facility will provide DHL with the scale, location and connectivity to meet ever-increasing customer needs for the delivery of goods.

"We will be working hard to secure customers for the two speculative buildings and remaining pre-let space at the site to ensure that SEGRO Park Coventry can play a key role in creating jobs and driving economic growth in the region."

The rest of the industrial park is currently being marketed by Savills.

With single buildings of 100,00 to 1million sq ft available, the property agents said: "buildings will be designed and constructed to the highest sustainable standards."

Early occupier interest is sought on a leasehold and freehold basis with prices available on application.

Jaguar Land Rover and the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre already occupy the north end of the site.

When SEGRO bought the Gateway South site in early 2020 Andrew Pilsworth, business unit director, said: "Gateway South, Coventry is truly an excellent location.

"It's well-connected, close to major population centres and it's one of a small number of sites that can accommodate our long-term vision of creating a high-quality industrial and logistics park.

"We're pleased to count some of the biggest names in logistics and industrial amongst our valued customers. We look forward to engaging with them to make Gateway South, Coventry a great success in the coming years."

The company said over 7,000 jobs would be created in the area.
