Latest update in bid to repurpose former Kenilworth cocktail bar

Plans to repurpose a former Kenilworth cocktail bar could be slightly changed, if the latest submission to Warwick District Council (WDC) is approved.
Last year, the local authority gave the green light for The Kenilworth on Warwick Road to be turned into an aparthotel and a house.
The scheme - which was unanimously backed by the council's planning committee - was for number 61 Warwick Road to be turned back into a house, while 59 and 63 would serve as accommodation.
However, a new application to WDC has asked for the rules placed on the aparthotel to be relaxed.
Last year, the council said numbers 59 and 63 could only be used for short periods of time "with the maximum length of a single stay in any event to be limited to six weeks in any calendar year".
Now, the owners want this to be relaxed to allow the units to be used for more than the six weeks previously agreed.
"This will allow increased flexibility to make the proposed development financially viable," the application said.
The original planning application said the six week rule was because "permanent residential use would result in an unacceptable level of amenity".
Permission has also already been granted for new signs to be installed at the listed building, with the new business due to be called the Rose & Rampart Hotel.
