Latest bid to keep holiday pod after councillors said it wasn't allowed

Another bid to keep a holiday igloo in Burton Green has been submitted to the council, months after councillors said it was not permitted.
In December Warwick District Council refused a retrospective application for two holiday igloos on a parcel of land off Hob Lane, saying they harmed the openness of the green belt.
Over 40 notices of support were submitted - mostly from people outside the district - but councillors sided with planning officers and refused the application, even though the igloos had already been installed.
Now a fresh application for just one of the pods has been submitted, saying the second pod and a timber cabin will be removed from the plot.
"The site also features two self-contained timber-clad holiday accommodation igloos or pods," the application said.
"The current application seeks for the retention of one of these igloos as a single holiday accommodation unit, with the second igloo to be removed from the site in its entirety."
Plans state the igloos have not been occupied at any point.
An application - from a different applicant - for a single, bigger holiday cabin on the site was refused in 2022.
But the latest scheme said the single igloo would not cause any harm to the green belt.
"The timber igloo is of high-quality design and appearance, with a little more of a rural feel than some adjacent development (the converted Water Tower being a case in point)," it added.
"That said, the local area features buildings of varied design and scale, including nearby farm buildings.
"Against this backdrop, the igloo does not appear incongruous or otherwise out of character."
