A Kenilworth woman has been charged with assisting an offender following the alleged murder of a man in Kenilworth earlier this year.

Virginia Eales, 73, from Kenilworth, has been charged with the offence and will appear at Warwickshire Magistrates Court on 2 October.

Carl Stephens, 45, was found dead at a house in Chestnut Avenue just before midnight on Friday 20 March, triggering a murder investigation by Warwickshire Police.

Today (September 1), the force confirmed Ms Eales as the latest person to be charged as part of the investigation.

Lewis Dowling, 24, of Yarnfield Road, Birmingham, Patricia Dowling, 49, of Chestnut Avenue, Kenilworth and a 16-year-old boy from Kenilworth - who cannot be named for legal reasons - have all been charged with murder.

Last month, a 46-year-old woman from Kenilworth was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A 51-year-old woman from Solihull was also previously arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
