Knights' Tournament returning to Kenilworth Castle for bank holiday weekend
By James Smith 17th Aug 2026
Locals are being given the chance to journey back to medieval England at the Kenilworth Castle Knights' Tournament later this month.
This bank holiday weekend (Saturday 29 August – Monday 31 August), families can enjoy a day of "thrilling action, hands-on activities and living history" at the town's main tourist attraction.
"Gather round to cheer on rival knights as they compete in a series of exciting contests, testing their courage, skill and strength before a lively crowd," English Heritage said.
"Against the backdrop of Kenilworth's majestic medieval ruins, the sights, sounds and spectacle of a historic tournament are brought vividly to life."
As well as the tournament arena, there will be a "world filled with costumed characters, traditional music and interactive activities for all ages".
Children can take part in knightly training and have a go at hands-on challenges of their own, while Kenilworth's ever-entertaining Jester roams the castle grounds, delighting visitors with a healthy dose of mischief, laughter and nonsense.
There will be a British Sign Language Interpreter at the castle all day on Monday 31 August.
At 3pm the deaf guide will deliver a History Highlights Tour of Kenilworth Castle. His BSL tour will also be voiced by an interpreter, and anyone is welcome to join.
