A Kenilworth theatre director and writer has announced the publication of his first novel - 'Final Curtain'.

Stephen Duckham - who is well known to regulars at the Talisman Theatre - will launch his book at Kenilworth Books on Friday, July 22.

Published by Olympia Publishers, Final Curtain tells the story of King's Theatre Company as it makes its final preparations for the annual Christmas presentation.

But production troubles are causing headaches for the theatre's owner who also faces the announcement that the local council is not renewing the lease.

The theatre is to be pulled down to make way for a luxury apartment block.

Stephen, who has mainly worked directing musicals and pantomimes, has worked extensively in the UK and the USA.

Twenty of his pantomime scripts have been published, and productions have been seen across the country including the West End.

His involvement with musicals includes collaborating on the writing of four original shows and the directing of over 180 musical productions.
