A Kenilworth singer-songwriter has announced her latest single which reminisces on a past love and wonders "if things could still be the same".

Darcy Blu's new track 'Last Train Home' was written during the winter lockdown of 2020, and will be released this Friday (November 5).

The track is inspired "by the nostalgia surrounding overthinking the past" and was written during a period where "there was clearly too much time to think".

After almost a year in the making Darcy is "very excited for it to be finally out" this weekend.

Darcy, who was born and raised in Kenilworth, played her first live performance as a child at the Priory Theatre. And whilst she now lives in London she still owes a lot to her Warwickshire roots.

She has been featured numerous times on BBC Music Introducing in Coventry and Warwickshire and even performed at TEDxCoventry at the Belgrade.

Whilst she couldn't gig during the pandemic her other releases in 2021, such as In the Morning, have also been featured by the BBC and even on a Tokyo-based radio station.

Despite the lack of live performances during 2020 and early 2021, Darcy reflected on the positives for her music during the pandemic.

"I would describe the past year as a bit of a blur, and 'chaotic but necessary' in order to grow," she said.

"It gave me time and space to write some of what I believe is to be my best music yet starting with Last Train Home being the first of many new songs coming out in the new year.

"I'm really excited to be releasing music I am 100 per cent proud of and that comes from my whole heart."

As live events have returned, Darcy has once again taken to the stage which "reminded me how much I missed live performances.

"Myself and my band in London have our first show back as a band at Nambucca on November 30, I couldn't be more excited. Even the energy in rehearsal feels different than before.

"I think we are all just desperate to get back out there."

As well as returning to live performances, Darcy is also planning a number of new songs for 2022 which will be "a little bit different to my previous releases".

She added: "I'd say my new music has taken a more upbeat and excited feel to it, which probably reflects my mood - excited and hopeful for the future and what's to come next.

Last Train Home will be available on streaming platforms, but you can follow this link to pre-save a copy and even hear a little preview.
