Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.

£200,000 Development study

Warwick District Council is considering a £206,000 study into new developments north of Kenilworth.

The 'Framework Masterplan' is expected to take at least two years and comes on the back of plans to build a gigafactory, eco park, new houses and the A46 strategic link road in the area.

WDC's cabinet will discuss the plans on Thursday.

Wildlife pond in town centre

Kenilworth Town Council has revealed that a wildlife pond could be built in the town centre.

The council has already announced plans to grow a wildflower meadow outside Jubilee House.

But the pond could be included next to the library if the scheme is given the green light.

A46 Strategic Link Road

Local Green councillors have welcomed WDC's masterplan announcement and hope it will signal a change in policy on the A46 Strategic Link Road from the Stoneleigh Island junction.

The district council's cabinet has remained involved in the scheme despite calls for a rethink from councillors and members of the public.

But Green Party members have said the £206,000 report could be the start of a new climate emergency focused outlook for development in the area.

New flats at Montpelier House

An application to create two new flats at Montpelier House on Southbank Road has been submitted to WDC.

Owner Stonewater wants to create the new one-bed rooms just by remodelling the interior.

And the company wants to create a new new consultation space/meeting room from the current site office.

75-Bed Care Home Refused

The district council has refused to give permission for a 75-bed care home to be built in Hatton.

The Birmingham Road scheme had been put forward by Solihull-based care providers Belmont Healthcare back in 2020.

But planners said the local area could not support such a big care home.
