Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Tree Felling

A housing developer has launched a fresh bid to chop down two more trees that the council previously said must not be touched.

Persimmon Homes has already been given permission to fell nine trees along Leamington Road at its Kenilworth Gate estate.

Warwick District Council signed off on the works - but said two sycamore trees must remain in place - as the trees were deemed to be in poor health.

Persimmon has since started the felling, but has submitted another application to the local authority, stating the two remaining sycamores are also dying.

Pub's New Look

Council planners have given the go-ahead for a Kenilworth pub to be repainted after its colour was previously changed without permission.

The Royal Oak on New Street received an enforcement letter earlier this year after the front of the grade II listed building was painted red.

Landlord Admiral Taverns then applied for permission to repaint it olive green, which Warwick District Council has now signed off.

Primary Plans Update

Part of the major works at a Kenilworth primary school have been "delayed indefinitely" but other areas of the project are due to move forward.

Liberal Democrat councillors have issued an update on the much-delayed project to extend St John's Primary School and create more places for children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs as well as to expand the school to two-form entry and provide 200 extra spaces.

Works - led by Warwickshire County Council - were due to be finished in 2025 but work is now hoped to begin at the end of this year.
