Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Solar Panels

Plans to install 50 solar panels at a Burton Green farm have been put forward to Warwick District Council.

If approved, the application would see five rows of panels installed at Stoneymoor Wood Farm, Hob Lane on a piece of land previously used to graze animals.

Applicants Mr and Mrs Elkins say vegetation will be encouraged to grow around the patch, to create "natural screening".

Lounge Moves Forward

Work is now underway converting a former Kenilworth charity shop into a new eatery.

Loungers plc, the West Country-based café/bar group, is gearing up to open a Lounge in Kenilworth in June 2024. 

Planning permission to turn the former Shakespeare's Hospice shop into a restaurant was signed off by Warwick District Council last year, with an alcohol licence also signed off.

Speed Bumps

Works to install a series of new speed bumps along Kenilworth's Warwick Road are well underway.

Plans to extend the scope of a 30mph speed limit by 230 metres and add in eight sets of speed bumps on Warwick Road were approved last year by Warwickshire County Council (WCC) despite seven objections being made. 

The decision - which had over 200 notes in support - came after Kenilworth Town Council (KTC) first initiated the idea of improving safety around the Pavilions estate.
