Plans to include four extra houses at a major new estate being built in Kenilworth have been withdrawn two years after they were first put forward.

Bovis Homes had applied to Warwick District Council to substitute seven three-bed houses for three five-beds at its Pavilions development near Kenilworth Cricket Club.

The Warwick Road estate was first given outline planning permission in September 2018 for 125 homes.

Councillors signed off on the four extra plots in July 2021, subject to Bovis agreeing a new section 106 agreement with the district council.

However, the developer has now withdrawn its application after continued back and forth with WDC about the amount of public open space.

A company spokesperson said to Nub News: "Our build programme at Kenilworth is progressing well, and to ensure that the timetable for delivery of these popular new homes remains on track we have decided to stick to the original planning proposals.

"Further details of the homes available are on our website."

The first buyers moved onto the estate in January 2021 and the estate is expected to be completed this year.

Local councillors have also been chasing Bovis to build a promised play area, with local Liberal Democrats recently taking to social media to say it will be installed soon.

Houses at the Pavilions are still being marketed on the Bovis website, with the most expensive a five-bedroom detached house priced at £1.075 million.

The website says: "Situated on the edge of Kenilworth with farmland to the south, The Pavilions is less than a mile to the centre of town.

"With supermarkets, independent retailers and one of the most spectacular medieval castle ruins in England, Kenilworth is one of the most desirable places to live in Warwickshire.

"So if you're looking for a beautiful new home that combines contemporary design with traditional architecture, look no further than The Pavilions in Kenilworth."

Town councillors have also recently signed off on a £63,000 project to improve safety along Warwick Road and cycling access to the Pavilions site.
