Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Rugby Club

Kenilworth Rugby Football Club (KRFC) is "still on plan" to start work on its move across town next year.

That was the message from club chairman Paul Fountaine in a recent video to supporters, in which he also thanked locals for donating generously to the club's urgent funding campaign.

At the end of the video, Mr Fountaine told locals there are three exciting updates from KRFC, including an update on the move to Warwick Road.

Theatre's Expansion

The Talisman Theatre has "proudly" declared the official opening of its long-awaited redevelopment, marking a "new era" for the Kenilworth-based venue.

Originally constructed in 1969 by volunteers, the building's longevity has "defied expectations", surpassing its projected 25-year lifespan - but becoming hindered by structural problems.

However, as audiences and community needs have grown, the need for a revitalised space became acutely apparent.

'Embarrassing' Report

Councillors have questioned why Warwick District Council has yet to publish a "damning" report that led to a self referral to the Regulator of Social Housing – and uncertainty prevails over whether it will appear in full. 

The authority commissioned an independent report by Pennington Choices - a surveying and consultancy company - ahead of new social housing regulations, designed to protect tenants of social landlords from serious hazards in their homes, coming into force from the start of October. 

Senior councillors conceded that it makes for "very uncomfortable" reading and while it has yet to be made public, a series of recommendations have been made.
