Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Pub's Makeover

Kenilworth's oldest pub could soon be given a facelift, with plans submitted for a series of new signs.

A planning application put forward by owner Everards said the Virgins & Castle is having some "minor" internal redecoration and needs to replace its current signs "due to their condition/age".

In its application to Warwick District Council, the brewery said the current signs "do not support the development" of the High Street pub.

Special School Scheme

Plans to make changes to a historic Balsall Common site to ensure it can be used as a special school once again have been revealed.

Diddington Hall in Kenilworth Road was previously used by special education needs school (SEND) The Island Project before it relocated to a site in Shirley last year.

Now Witherslack Group want to re-open the premises with a new special educational needs school based there, but says various work is needed to allow for its "refurbishment and amendments to meet the school's future operational needs".

Farm Building's Future

Council planners have given the green light to turn a number of agricultural buildings at a Kenilworth farm into three homes.

Warwick District Council has granted planning permission for the development at Crackley Farm, which will see three, four-bedroom homes created.

This latest scheme comes after permission was already granted for the separate cattle shed at the farm to be turned into five homes.
