Council planners have given the green light to turn a number of agricultural buildings at a Kenilworth farm into three homes.

Warwick District Council has granted planning permission for the development at Crackley Farm, which will see three, four-bedroom homes created.

This latest scheme comes after permission was already granted for the separate cattle shed at the farm to be turned into five homes.

Plans show there will be no new building on site, and some timber lean-to structures will be removed to make space for parking and gardens.

"The designs have been prepared having taken into account the agricultural buildings and conversion design guidance, which has been prepared to foster appropriate and sympathetic re-use of farm buildings," the application explained.

It continued: "In summary, permitting the conversion of these attractive traditional barns will enable their long term preservation and simultaneously contributing, albeit in a modest way, to the district's housing stock.

"It has been shown within the drawings and this document that this conversion can be undertaken sympathetically and preserving the character and materials, whilst fulfilling their new role as a habitable dwelling."

The houses will be accessed from the existing access on site.

Signing off on the application, a council report said: "The development is considered acceptable in principle and would be of a good quality design that does not cause harm to nearby neighbours and subject to conditions would not cause harm to protected species and would achieve biodiversity net gains.

"The application is therefore recommended for approval."
