Kenilworth planning roundup: industrial plans, furniture depot and castle crossing
By James Smith 7th Mar 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Industrial Plans
Slow progress continues to be made on plans to create new employment land on the edge of Kenilworth.
A planning application for six industrial units was put forward by Barwood Development Securities Ltd's for the land at Thickthorn in 2024.
The scheme was then updated last year after concerns the designs did not follow the Land East of Kenilworth Development Brief or the Kenilworth Neighbourhood Plan - both of which were designed to control how the town is developed.
Furniture Future
Councillors will next week decide whether an outdoor furniture company will be granted planning permission to redevelop its depot on the outside of Kenilworth.
Woodberry Outdoor Furniture submitted plans to Warwick District Council in 2024 to demolish its existing offices and warehouses on Bericote Road to make space for bigger storage space and new offices.
Run by the Barr family, the business supplies pubs, hotels, holiday parks, golf clubs, tourist attractions, universities, councils and schools.
Castle Crossing
The proposed new crossing to Kenilworth Castle looks set to move a matter of metres along the road, but continues to move forward.
Kenilworth Town Council has been working on the new link for Castle Road for over a year as it looks to find a safe way for walkers to reach the town's main tourist attraction.
Having held a public consultation and now decided on a preferred spot for the crossing, the town council is waiting on English Heritage to progress the path which will continue from the road to the castle itself.
