Kenilworth planning roundup: HS2 cutting, solar panels

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
HS2 Cutting
Detailed plans for an 850-metre-long cutting for the HS2 line between two Kenilworth woods have been revealed.
The high speed rail developer has revealed the designs for 'Roughknowles Wood Cutting' near Crackley Lane.
Plans - submitted to Warwick District Council for approval - show the cutting will have a maximum depth of 13.6 metres, and will have 'bunds' built up on either side of it.
Solar Panels
A local golf club hotel has been granted retrospective planning permission for new solar panels on its roof.
The Warwickshire Golf and Country Club installed the PV panels on its roof last year, despite having had an application refused by Warwick District Council.
The Club Company UK Ltd - which manages the site - was refused permission previously after council officers said there was not enough information about how far the panels would protrude from the roof.
Pub's Makeover
A Kenilworth pub has been given the full green light for a makeover.
Last year The Lion on Warwick Road was given advertising consent by Warwick District Council (WDC) for a series of new signs, and a repaint - although planners did only approve part of the application, taking issue with proposed "excessive" and "harmful" modern signs.
However, the scheme did not go ahead as the local authority refused permission for a separate listed building application for the grade II listed building. This application was refused for the same issues with the modern sign designs.
