Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.

Hotel to Homes

Plans to demolish a Kenilworth town centre hotel and replace it with four houses and five apartments have been submitted to Warwick District Council.

The application is the latest in a series of schemes put forward to redevelop the Peacock Hotel on Warwick Road.

Planning permission was granted in 2019 to turn the 32-bed venue into student accommodation, but the development was delayed due to the pandemic.

Footbridge Works Set

Work is set to begin on converting a Kenilworth footbridge for joint cycling and pedestrian use at the end of March, a council report has revealed.

At the latest Kenilworth Town Council meeting an update from the cycling working group said the Clarke's Avenue Footbridge scheme would get underway in the week beginning March 20.

Warwickshire County Council was set to start the project at the end of November, but it was delayed by four months.

Carpark Could Be Kept

The car park at Talisman Square could continue to be used for a further three years if approval is given by the district council.

Having been allowed to expand the car park back in 2012, Cobalt Estates was given permission in 2019 to keep using the land off Station Road as a car park for three more years.

Now this has lapsed, the company has applied for permission to operate the car park for a further three years.
