The car park at Talisman Square could continue to be used for a further three years if approval is given by the district council.

Having been allowed to expand the car park back in 2012, Cobalt Estates was given permission in 2019 to keep using the land off Station Road as a car park for three more years.

Now this has lapsed, the company has applied for permission to operate the car park for a further three years.

In July Cobalt Estates submitted a fresh planning application to build a four-storey block of flats and two new shops on the car park.

Warwick District Council is yet to make a decision on the scheme and the firm said it wanted to extend the use of the car park while the development was still in the planning stage.

And while Kenilworth Town Council objected to the development, it has supported the use of the car park for the next three years.

The latest application said: "Whilst there is an application before you to redevelop the site, the subject of this application in accordance with various policy aspirations, this is the subject of ongoing negotiations and remains to be determined.

"Subject to the outcome of that application, various pre-commencement conditions would then need to be resolved, as well as the lead-in period before work can start.

"As such, a further temporary period of three years is sought for the retention of the car park."

The application says there have been no previous issues with the use of the land as a car park.
