Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Cricket Plans Pulled

Plans to replace the cricket nets and equipment store at Kenilworth Cricket Club have been withdrawn, despite support from local residents and Kenilworth Town Council.

The Warwick Road club submitted an application to Warwick District Council earlier this year, saying its existing nets were "no longer fit for purpose".

The proposals would have seen the existing nets and storage building demolished and replaced. However, the application was withdrawn this month, with the club yet to give a reason.

The plans also attracted objections over the location and appearance of the proposed store.

Pub's New Look

The Green Man on Warwick Road has closed for a two-week refurbishment, with the pub due to reopen on November 4.

The work follows planning permission being granted to owner Ember Inns for a series of changes to the town centre pub.

The team has promised a "makeover", saying it wants to give the venue a warm new look for drinks, catch-ups and meals.

Bookings are already open for when the pub reopens.

Longer Stays

A rule limiting how long guests could stay at a new Kenilworth boutique accommodation business has been relaxed by council planners.

The Rose & Rampart, which opened earlier this year in the former Kenilworth cocktail bar building on Warwick Road, can now offer stays beyond the previous six-week annual limit.

The original planning permission restricted the accommodation at numbers 59 and 63 Warwick Road to short stays, with a maximum of six weeks in any calendar year.

The owners said relaxing the restriction would provide greater flexibility and help make the development financially viable. The change was approved by Warwick District Council earlier this month.
