Kenilworth planning roundup: 85-bed retirement village, industrial land and greenway
Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.
Garden Centre to Retirement Village
A Knowle garden centre could be pulled down and turned into a retirement village after plans were approved on appeal.
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council had rejected the scheme but a planning inspector gave it the green light providing the retirement village 'harmonises' with its surroundings.
The site will see 39 care suites and 46 care apartments built.
-------------
Industrial Land for Sale
A 19 hectare industrial area on the outskirts of Kenilworth has been put up for sale with estate agents Savills.
The 'Kenilworth Gateway' land, next to the A46 and A452, forms part of a wider development in the area.
Planning permission was granted for the 'employment' land, alongside 550 houses and a primary school in the area in December.
-------------
Castle Farm Presses Ahead
The demolition of Castle Farm Recreation Centre can now progress after contracts were signed between Warwick District Council, AR Demolition and Kier.
The sports centre was closed six months ago and is set to be replaced with a new multi-million pound facility.
-------------
Greenway Extension
Warwickshire County Council is set to discuss plans to spent £100,000 on improving the Kenilworth Greenway.
The money will be spent on completing the University of Warwick end.
And the funding would come from the HS2 Road Safety Fund.
-------------
Garden Fence Must Go
A Kenilworth household may be forced to pull down a two metre high garden fence after planners refused a planning appeal.
The fence had already been put up at the Elizabeth Way home when Warwick District Council refused a retrospective application last November.
And an appeal, lodged against the decision in January, has now been refused by planning inspectors.
-------------
Footbridge Plans
Residents are to have their say on plans to turn the Clarke's Avenue, Farmer Ward Road bridge into a joint cycle and walkway.
Kenilworth Town Council and Warwickshire County Council have opened a public consultation.
Residents have until the end of the month to voice their opinions.
