Kenilworth planning roundup: 224 new homes, skatepark and Crewe Lane
By James Smith 20th Jun 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Leyes Lane Goes Ahead
Councillors have unanimously agreed to grant planning permission for 224 new houses and a 75-bed care home in Kenilworth.
Homes England was last night (June 16) given the green light for the development at the former Leyes Lane school site.
The developer has already been given permission to flatten the site and has bought the land from Warwick District Council (WDC).
Crewe Lane Latest
Kenilworth residents are being kept waiting again for a decision on major changes to Crewe Lane.
Warwickshire County Council is considering reducing the speed limit to 30mph and whether to effectively cut the road in half.
If approved, the move will see a 99-metre break in the road outside Kenilworth Golf Club's entrance as a 'prohibition of motor vehicles' section is created.

Skatepark Rolls Forward
Town councillors have backed a £125,000 spend to help deliver a "state of the art skatepark" at Kenilworth's Castle Farm.
Kenilworth Town Council (KTC) has been working for several years to help refresh the "tired" facility at the park.
Local skaters have already been engaged to help design a new facility, with the help of professional design company Wheelscape.
