Teenager arrested after village crash leaves five in hospital

A teenager has been arrested on uspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a village crash last night (June 18) left five people in hospital.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Southam Road, Leamington Hastings at around 11.04pm where a blue Vauxhall Corsa had crashed into a tree.

Police have arrested an 18-year-old who remains in custody.

Warwickshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, an air ambulance and a fire engine were all called to the scene.

Police are appealing for information.

A force statement said: "Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and we're keen to hear from anyone who was driving along the road or who saw the car and the way it was being driven before the collision."

Two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries while three others – a man and two teenage girls - were treated at hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "One man, who was found out of the car, was in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately administered advanced trauma care.

"He was conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

"A second man was treated by medics for serious injuries and taken to the same hospital.

"Three further patients, a man and two teenage girls, were treated for injuries not believed to be serious before they were all conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire."

Three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor with critical care paramedic and Critical Care Cars from Midlands Air Ambulance and the Air Ambulance Service were all called to the scene.

We were called to the A426 between Dunchurch and Southam just after 11pm last night (Thursday).
