Kenilworth Footpath Preservation Group (KFPG) met with one of theKenilworthCentre's managers last week following a donation to the charity via the mayor.

Earlier this month the community organisation presented a £1,000 donation to Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Alix Dearing, for the mayor's charity fund.

That money has now made its way to theKenilworthCentre.

KFPG members met with joint manager Becky Webb on Monday 15 January to learn more about the centre and mark the donation.

The donation comes from the profits from the sale of the popular booklet 'Kenilworth and Beyond; Country Walks', which is available from Kenilworth Books and Kenilworth Castle's gift shop.

The volunteer organisation works to clear and waymark hundreds of rights of way around the town and district, having first published the booklet in 1977.

TheKenilworthCentre has also recently been given £75,000 from Kenilworth Town Council over the next three years.

Struggling amidst rising bills and a number of unexpected extra costs, the centre has admitted struggling over recent months, putting the vital services it runs and gives a home to under threat.

According to the recent manager's report, the centre's fixed costs are now outstripping its income by around £3,000 each month, with staff and trustees on the lookout for new sources of income.
