Kenilworth Covid-19 infection rates drop significantly but remain above national average

Covid-19 infection rates in Kenilworth have begun to fall having quadrupled during December.

Despite this all three Kenilworth areas remain above the national average infection rate of 925.2 per 100,000 people.

There have been two more deaths due to Covid-19 in the last 28 days, bringing the total up to 290 in the district.

But South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust currently has 46 hospitalised patients with Coronavirus - none of whom are on ventilators.

This compares to a high of 130 hospitalisations a year ago on January 13 2021.

In Kenilworth official government data shows seven-day infection rates are highest in Kenilworth East at 1,226.2 per 100,000 up to January 16. But this is a significant drop from 1,776.6 on January 4.

In Kenilworth West the rate is currently at 1,030.1 compared to 1,725.8 per 100,000 at the start of the month.

Similarly Kenilworth South has fallen from 1,659.4 per 100,000 people to 942.2 in two weeks.

Meanwhile the vaccination hub has at Warwick Hospital has closed after just four weeks.
