A Kenilworth councillor has been suspended by his party following a complaint, just a month after being elected for the first time.

Cllr Roy Minto was one of 10 Green Party members to be elected onto Kenilworth Town Council (KTC) in May, as the group took overall control at Jubilee House.

But before Cllr Minto can attend his first full KTC meeting this Thursday (June 15), he has been temporarily suspended by his party.

A statement from Warwick District Green Party to Nub News simply said: "Roy Minto has been temporarily suspended from Warwick District Green Party whilst an investigation is made into a complaint we have recently received."

The party did not give any details on the nature of the complaint.

Nor did it confirm whether or not the complaint had been made before or after the May 4 elections.

Cllr Minto's profile on the KTC website has also been updated following the suspension, and it currently displays no party affiliation for the Park Hill ward representative.

Last month's elections saw the Greens also take huge strides at Warwick District Council (WDC), increasing their number of seats to 14 to become the largest party at the local authority.

The group - which does not hold an overall majority at WDC - has since announced a joint leadership with the Labour group.

Nub News has approached Cllr Minto for comment.
