As Kenilworth Lions Grand Show got underway in Abbey Fields on Saturday (June 10), locals were treated to the sight of a Spitfire flying over the town.

Having travelled west across Warwickshire to reach Kenilworth, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's (BBMF) fighter did a couple of laps of the castle and Abbey Fields just after 3pm before heading off again.

BBMF has six Supermarine Spitfires, with the one travelling over Kenilworth decked out in the D-Day black and white stripes.

Images by Richard Smith - taken from Kenilworth Castle - show the aircraft circling the town.

Meanwhile the Grand Show in Abbey Field saw a large turnout from locals, helping raise money for a variety of local causes.

The main stage featured entertainment from a number of local artists, while food and drink was enjoyed by many in the town centre park.
