The Greens have taken control at Kenilworth Town Council, on a day when they also became the biggest party on the district council.

As the Conservatives saw all three of their town seats slip away, the Greens became the majority party with 10.

The Lib Dems added one from the Tories, taking the remaining seven seats.

It went to the penultimate announcement of the day to find out which group would take control, with the Greens eventually retaining all four seats in Park Hill.

In Abbey, Tories John Cooke and the retiring Michael Coker were replaced by Alix Dearing (who moved wards) and Zoe Leventhal.

In Park Hill the Greens retained all four seats with all new candidates - Neil Eaton, Roy Minto, Alex Randall and Akira Summers all being voted in.

In Dalehouse the Greens also held all their seats, James Kennedy and Peter Jones were re-elected and joined by new members David Bailey and Mark Stevens.

Meanwhile the Lib Dems retained Borrowell with Kate Dickson, Josh Payne and Alan Chalmers all topping the polls.

And it was a similar story in St John's where Richard Dickson and Andrew Milton were re-elected, to be joined by Alison Insley and Adrian Marsh at the expense of Conservative Rik Spencer.

Meanwhile at Warwick District Council, the Greens finished the day with 14 seats, making them the largest (but not majority) party.
