South Warwickshire residents have just days left to have their say on plans for 55,000 new homes.

The final public consultation on the South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) was launched in July and runs until Tuesday (September 8).

The major planning document will govern how the region is developed over the next 25 years.

Drafted by Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon District Councils, the document needs to be submitted to the government before the end of the year to be approved.

This final 'regulation 19' consultation is reaching its later stages, and offers local the chance to have their say on whether SWLP is a compliant and "legally sound" document.

This differs to the previous public consultations which asked for feedback on specific sites included in it.

"The publication or regulation 19 consultation is the fourth stage in the process of preparing the new South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP)," the councils said.

"This is the final opportunity for formal engagement with the public before the SWLP will be submitted to the government for independent examination.

"This stage differs from previous three rounds of consultations (namely scoping and call for sites, issues and options, preferred options).

"The SWLP will include the final growth strategy, locations for growth (housing, employment and other uses) and a list of policies.

"Representations at this stage should specifically address whether the draft plan is legally compliant and sound (i.e., is it positively prepared, justified, effective, and consistent with national policy)."
