Here is a roundup of the biggest decisions that have been made by the local councils in the last month.

And for more local planning decisions, keep an eye out for our weekly updates published every weekend.

Kenilworth Town Council

Following a month of community events and celebrations for the Commonwealth Games, the town council has been focusing on getting ready for the Commonwealth Games this July.

The Queen's Baton Relay came through the town last week - going from High Street and ending in Kenilworth Castle.

The castle has also been a focus for the town council, with the new online passes already proving popular.

And local councillors of all parties said Boris Johnson's resignation earlier this month was a long time coming.

Warwick District Council

Throughout July the district council has been focusing on the new bin collections which will start on August 1.

While advice has been given on what to do with the old red bins, the council has revealed that it is running behind on delivering new food caddies and blue-lidded bins.

The announcement came just days after council leader Cllr Andrew Day said he was focusing on local issues rather than the Conservative leadership race.

At last week's full council meeting councillors raised concerns about waiting times for social housing, as well as planning enforcement.

Demolition work has continued at Castle Farm Recreation Centre and an announcement is expected shortly on the future of Abbey Fields Leisure Centre.

And councillors have revealed plans which could see £150,000 spent on a new footpath to Myton School.

Warwickshire County Council

With the hot weather this July seeing more people visit country parks, the county council has asked residents to be more considerate at Burton Dassett Hills after a number of sheep have been hit and killed by cars.

The council has also approved its new minerals plan which includes provision for a number of new quarries in the county.

A fortnight of road closures have been announced for Waverley Road.

And the heatwave also saw the county's gritters used to help stop local roads from melting.

Other councils

Stratford MP and Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi has been involved in discussions with Stratford-on-Avon District Council over plans to create a county-wide solution to unlawful traveller camps.

It was also revealed this month that Coventry City Council member Cllr Asha Masih was called to court over unpaid council tax payments.

And the leader of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has defended Birmingham Airport CEO Nick Barton after it was revealed he received a 49 per cent pay rise - meaning he now earns almost £600,000 a year.
