Kenilworth pubs and bars have been getting behind the Kenilworth Advent Calendar which is will be released later this year.

Whilst the Rotary Club of Kenilworth's Christmas fundraiser has been launched in the midst of a summer heatwave, local eateries and pubs have been donating prizes for the calendar.

Offers of Christmas lunches and evening meals along with tickets to rugby internationals have been donated by enthusiastic publicans and restaurant owners from all over the town.

Each Kenilworth Advent Calendar not only has a picture of Kenilworth Castle in the snow but has 24 opening doors. And from December 1 to 24 five prizes can be won every day with values up to £250.

Each calendar will have a unique number and throughout advent, five numbers will be drawn at random to win the prizes listed on that day.

There will be a unique Kenilworth Advent Calendar website produced by a local digital marketing brand 'LoudLocal' who will post the winning prize winning numbers every day as well as being posted on notice boards in Talisman Square in central Kenilworth and on the Kenilworth Nub News website.

Calendars will be available for sale from the end of September and the money raised will go to Talisman Theatre, The Myton Hospices, The Kenilworth Centre, The Waverley Centre.

Landlord of The Engine Pub in Mill End, Ted Bear said he was proud to support the Kenilworth Rotary Club in raising funds for local charities and causes.

Ted said: "Without the dedicated support and help of people like Rotary within our community, Kenilworth wouldn't be the wonderful town to live in that it is."

The Rotary Club of Kenilworth has said it is grateful to all its supporters.

Speaking at the launch in July, club president Malcolm Matthews said: "The support from local business has been truly remarkable.

"Almost everyone we've spoken to has been keen to help, from small independent shops to major businesses such as Emmersons and Abstract Design, without whose help we couldn't have produced the calendar.

"And I must thank LoudLocal for donating their expertise to create a dedicated website, www.kenilworthrotaryadventcalender.co.uk which underpins the whole project."
