A Kenilworth charity is looking for new members to join its board of trustees.

Kenilworth Community Care, which runs Waverley Day Centre of Waverley Road, is looking for trustees and a new treasurer to come on board to help continue the support of older people in the CV8 area.

The day centre fully reopened again last November and said it was keen to continue to play a key part in helping elderly people regain their confidence and return safely to social events following the various lockdowns.

But now the board of trustees is looking for new members who can commit to supporting the charity.

If interested, the charity would expect a trustee to:

  • Have a liking for and empathy with older people.
  • Attend trustee meetings approximately eight times a year plus the AGM.
  • Support Waverley now and help plan its future.
  • Show a keen interest in Waverley staff and volunteers.
  • Support Waverley in fundraising and promotional events.
  • Serve a minimum of three years as a trustee.
  • If requested, submit to a DBS check.
  • Offer a skill such as health and safety, social care, HR, financial, legal, local government, marketing/social media, fundraising.
The charity's current treasures will step down in July after nine years in office. A treasurer's term is usually three years, and the board is looking for a new member to take on the position. The prospective applicant would be required to:
  • Make sure Waverley keeps proper accounts.
  • Review financial performance and report this at each meeting of trustees.
  • Draw up and/or review policies.
  • Draw up annual budget for presentation to trustees.
  • Ensure effective financial controls.
  • Liaise with Waverley administration and the Waverley independent auditor.
  • Communicate and discuss financial matters with the board of trustees and at the AGM.
Meetings held every six to eight weeks on Tuesdays at 5pm. For more information or to show a definite interest please contact David Lansdowne, chair of Waverley, at [email protected]
